Dechra Manufacturing employs around 400 people across our three main manufacturing sites in Skipton in the UK, Bladel in the Netherlands and Florida in the US. Within the department there are a number of different roles including warehouse operatives, production operatives, engineering, laboratory technicians and supervisory and management levels.
We are responsible for manufacturing the majority of the wide range of Dechra’s animal pharmaceutical products which includes solid dose and injections, powders and pre-mix applications and formulation development.
Along with our Dechra Regulatory colleagues we ensure that our range meets with the requirements of the various licensing authorities such as the MHRA in the UK, the IGZ in Holland and the US FDA.
People who are recognised by their colleagues as having gone “above and beyond” are nominated for “The Star of the Month” award, with the winner receiving prizes.
Working within Manufacturing provides the chance to experience a wide variety of roles involving a range of tasks from small scale manual operations to larger automated ones. Dechra actively encourages the development of the existing skills of our people and provides the opportunity to learn new processes.
That variety, along with the interaction with our colleagues over the three sites, makes for a tremendous working environment. Being involved in Dechra Manufacturing is a lot more interesting and fulfilling than a “normal” job in a manufacturing unit.
Dechra Manufacturing in the UK is proud to have the Investors in People award and we take that responsibility very seriously. Not only do we offer the opportunity for further training, we also have a successful apprenticeship scheme and actively help and encourage people who seek promotion within our company. Irrespective of their role, in all our sites from warehouse operative to senior manager, every member of the team has an annual personal development review which helps both them and their line manager to identify opportunities for progression.
At Dechra there is a really positive attitude towards change and we constantly look at ways to improve our working practices.
It’s not all work and no play though. There’s great emphasis on the social side at Dechra with a lot of formal and informal events in each country involving people from across the company, the highlight in the UK this year being our annual visit to Ripon races. It’s a positive place to be.
