The department is responsible for the development of new products from initial conception through to efficacy, safety, manufacture, registration, data generation and, finally, approval.
We manage projects from across Dechra’s range and get to develop topical treatments, systemic medicines and animal food products.
Because Dechra is lean and flexible you get to experience all of the facets of the product development process, which isn’t necessarily the case in larger companies. A big plus for the team is the Dechra people who drive decisions and the freedom that comes with working for a company that doesn’t restrict you with politics and red tape.
It’s a really flat management structure at Dechra, meaning that everyone in the department reports to the department Director, and has access to them, without having to go through a chain of command. It’s a great way of ensuring that we know who everyone is in the team, what their aspirations are, providing support for them, and enables working together to achieve our goals. There is no ceiling for Dechra employees, we’re always on the look-out for leaders and if you’re looking for career progression then the opportunities are limitless.
Dechra feels like an extended family. We celebrate birthdays with big team lunches. We just had a team building event where the whole of Product Development cooked and made food for a local charity, Ronald Macdonald House, which supports families with children who have health problems.
