Bioanalytical Assay ManagerJob Introduction Invetx, a division of Dechra, is a veterinary biotechnology company based in the USA, engaged in the discovery and development of novel therapeutic proteins for the treatment of important diseases in veterinary species, focused on companion animals, using a proprietary platform that combines industry-leading technologies. In July 2024, Dechra Pharmaceuticals acquired Invetx. Invetx continues its focus on bringing differentiated biotherapeutics for dogs and cats to the animal health market as its own division within the Dechra organization.
The Opportunity The Bioanalytical Assay Manager at Invetx oversees and manages external partners involved in developing large molecule PK, PD/biomarkers and immunogenicity assays. In addition, they also manage the external CRO's testing of clinical samples and delivery of regulatory compliant data and reports within program deadlines. Moreover, they are responsible for screening reagents, kits, and assay formats in the Invetx lab as well as performing plate-based method development. The Bioanalytical Assay manager is expected to maintain data collection and lab notebook documentation as well as plot and analyze internal and external data. They are also expected to communicate and present data cross functionally throughout Invetx as well as with our external partners. The Bioanalytical Assay manager is a full-time on-site employee in the Natick, MA lab and reports directly to the Senior Director of Drug Discovery.
Role Responsibility So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
- Maintain a safe working environment• Technical oversight and management of external partners involved in delivering quality, timely, and regulatory compliant PK, PD/biomarker bioanalytical assays and data.
- Functions as the key point of contact with external laboratories. Leads selection, performance evaluation, periodic visits and audits of CRO laboratories conducting clinical PK, PD, and Immunogenicity assays
- Evaluates and interprets results of complex data (i.e. evaluates aberrant results and data trends), anticipates and corrects potential issues, and able to appropriately guide external partners through issue resolution.
- Executing lab experiments to test assays, kits, and critical reagents as well as method development. (~50% of time)
- Generation of critical reagents such as anti-ID expression and purifications.
- Maintain the organization of the in-house laboratory which will include ordering consumables and lab equipment.
- Work with project timelines/deliverables, support, and coordinate cross-functional activities to achieve team goals.
- Create lab notebook records of each experiment in a timely manner.
- Prepare clearly articulated data presentations.
- Communicate and present progress to the company as well as external partners
