The Opportunity

The Maintenance team leader is a key role in prioritising and delivering the day to day KPI's within the engineering department. The Team leader will serve as a first point of contact for both the engineering manager and other external stakeholders in engineering activities.

General duties will include maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and improving the reliability of all equipment on site as well as assisting in the planning and delivery of all the days engineering activities. The team leader will also assist in the reading, writing and implementing of Dechra QMS documentation into engineering works across site such as change controls, deviations and CAPA's.

This role will operate in shifts, 6am - 2pm one week and 2pm - 10pm the following week.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
  • Distribute and monitor the teams work to achieve the delivery of a Planned maintenance program to ensure reliability of equipment and to improve asset performance.
  • Remain up to date with the online ticketing system, ensuring the teams timely completion of work orders giving accurate and valuable detail for asset history following the functional failure.
  • Lead the department Engineering RCA (root cause analysis) to stop any issues from re-occurring.
  • Perform calibration services in accordance with work order instructions, associated procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Continuous improvement of equipment, improving safety, efficiency, changeovers and minimising downtime.
  • Ensure that all daily admin is carried out, such as the shift handover and completion of the DRM board.
  • Ensure presence at the packing and manufacturing tier 1 meetings and communicates actions back to engineering to action out.
  • Support problem solving sessions throughout site from an engineering aspect and carry out QMS documentation within documented and agreed deadlines.


The Ideal Candidate

  • 'Due to the nature of our business, all successful candidates will be required to complete a basic DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service check) before employment can commence, and at regular intervals during employment. This check will be paid for by Dechra.'
  • Experience of managing a team within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, food or chemical industry would be desired but not required.
  • Familiar with working on production equipment including filling lines, conveyors, packaging lines, autoclaves tablet presses, granulators, WFI and heat sterilizers etc.
  • An electrical bias background would be ideal.
  • Previous experience of managing, coaching and developing colleagues would be beneficial.
  • Able to work cross functionally.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Natural ability to plan and organise.
