As a member of the global Legal team, this Paralegal position will report to the Assistant General Counsel in North America. The role requires an individual that can engage with all parts of the business. The role will require the holder to work closely with other members of the global Legal team, some of whom are based in Europe and some in North America. The role is one that forms part of a group that may need to support work across the business and/or in support of any senior colleague globally. All Legal team members will necessarily have a close working relationship with the Company Secretarial and Compliance teams.

The aim of the Legal team is to support the business in realizing its strategy and to help it manage legal risk. This Paralegal role will assist with North America commercial initiatives, review U.S. advertising and promotional materials, and assist with administrative operations of the team.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
  • Work on projects as determined from time-to-time by the Assistant General Counsel
  • Provide support to lawyers in the in-house team
  • Review advertising and promotional materials to ensure legal compliance
  • Assist with the management of incoming legal requests and on-going legal matters
  • Legal research
  • Completing pro forma legal templates
  • Document formatting including schedule collation
  • Reviewing simple legal agreements such as NDAs
  • Proof reading documents
  • Maintaining the contracts database and associated inbox
  • Carrying out the tasks noted above in cooperation with other Legal team colleagues
  • Responsible for own personal health & safety
  • Other tasks as requested


The Ideal Candidate

  • Legal or paralegal qualifications
  • Animal or human health experience desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficient contract review and drafting skills.
  • Experience reviewing pharmaceutical advertising and promotional materials
  • Understanding of intellectual property rights, including copyright, patents, and trademarks
  • Ability to manage own workload, prioritize, meet deadlines and remain focused with long-term deliverables
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders internal and external to Dechra
  • Must have a flexible and adaptable approach to work while maintaining the ability to efficiently process matters
  • Must possess a high degree of common sense, tact, discretion and diplomacy
  • Experience using common software such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
