The Opportunity

Research Associates at Invetx provide valuable data to keep our projects moving forward. These individuals are responsible for designing, running, documenting, and analyzing scientific experiments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining a safe working environment, mammalian cell culture, protein expression and purification, protein characterization, data collection and lab notebook documentation. This position will be focused on protein expression, purification, and characterization of canine and feline bispecific antibodies. Research Associates are also expected to communicate and present data cross functionally throughout Invetx. Research Associates are full-time onsite employees at the Natick, MA lab and report directly to the Senior Director of Drug Discovery.

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Expression of recombinant proteins with a focus on antibodies and bispecific antibodies
  • Protein purification including column resin scouting to determine the best purification scheme to remove byproducts or mispaired species
  • Protein analytics including SDS-PAGE, western blotting, ELISA, SEC, AEX, HIC, cIEF, CE-SDS, flow cytometry, cell-based assays, and SPR
  • Cell lines passaging and freezing
  • Characterization (affinity and functional activity)
  • Maintain the organization of the in-house laboratory which will include ordering consumables and lab equipment
  • Work with project timelines/deliverables, support, and coordinate cross-functional activities to achieve team goals
  • Create lab notebook records of each experiment in a timely manner
  • Prepare clearly articulated data presentations
  • Communicate and present progress to the company
