The Opportunity

To support the Head of Tax and the Group Tax Team across a wide range of corporate tax governance, compliance and reporting responsibilities and ongoing day-to-day support in respect of general tax including VAT and employment taxes advice. Additionally, you will support and advise on various Group Tax activities such as structuring, NBD and M&A activities and act as Tax Partner to several of the Group's Finance Business Partners, staying close to Dechra's business in a range of territories and keeping stakeholders across the Group informed of changes in tax legislation and regulation.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

Tax Compliance (working/liaising with tax advisers as necessary)
  • Oversight of the Group's tax compliance programme including review of UK and international subsidiary filings (preparation and submission of corporate tax returns is outsourced to EY).
  • Working with EY on corporate interest restriction calculations, patent box calculations and the R&D claim for the UK tax returns
  • Management of withholding taxes (including filing CT61 returns in the UK)
  • Managing the tax risk register and the programme of tax controls testing
  • Compliance with tax strategy, senior accounting officer ("SAO") and corporate criminal offence ("CCO") requirements


Tax Reporting
  • Preparation of year-end tax accounting and reporting liaising with Head of Reporting and Group's tax advisers (for both group accounts and local statutory accounts)
  • Cash flow forecasting for tax
  • Management of audit of tax process including preparation of technical papers
  • Assistance with analysis of ETR to support Reforecast, Budget and Strategic Planning processes
  • Assistance with adopting US GAAP tax reporting and quarterly close processes (with Big 4 support)


Projects and Advisory
  • Provide tax advice on ad-hoc projects such as IP management and R&D reliefs
  • Input to Group structuring, NBD and M&A projects
  • Repatriation and Financing strategies
  • Implementation of new control and governance processes


General Tax
  • Ongoing day-to-day support in respect of general tax including VAT and employment taxes liaising with advisers as needed
  • Remain up to date with evolving tax landscape and help raise Tax awareness of internal stakeholders across the Group


The Candidate

  • Good systems skills, particularly in Excel and Word
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive in all aspects of the role
  • Strong communication skills
  • CTA and / or ACCA / ATT / ACA qualified
  • Extensive experience in corporate tax in multinational groups, ideally gained from working at a large accountancy firm or in an in-house Corporate Tax role
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant tax legislation and experience in tax reporting and accounting
  • Good awareness/ experience of transfer pricing and tax accounting would be an advantage
  • Advanced excel skills an advantage
