Job Introduction

Packing Operative - £30,714 salary (£16.41 hourly equivalent)

Based at our Skipton, North Yorkshire manufacturing site. Please only apply if you live within a commuting distance of Skipton.

We are Dechra a growing, global specialist within the world of veterinary pharmaceuticals. Our expertise is in the development, manufacture, marketing and sales of high-quality products exclusively for veterinarians worldwide.

36-hour week - Mon - Fri 2.00pm - 10.30pm with every other Friday off (Nine day fortnight).

The Role

To take responsibility for the equipment used and ensure all aspects of use (production and cleaning) are carried out to a high standard, in line with associated documentation and GMP procedures.

Pack product to the highest quality standard and compliant to the set GMP guidelines and procedures.

Operate machinery and equipment whereby supporting the line lead in in delivering excellence and meeting the schedule of adherence.

To ensure all activities undertaken are within the set Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Pack product to high standard ensuring the quality of those products is in accordance with the set GMP standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Attend and comply with any planned in house training or on the job training
  • Capable and willing to train others in the team.
  • To ensure the efficient and safe use of machinery and equipment.
  • To keep strictly to packing methods as laid down in the documentation and raise any issues or errors to the Line Lead, Packing Specialists or shift Manager.
  • To ensure all equipment is clean and maintained in a good working order and where deficiencies are found, escalating to senior staff.
  • Maintain the highest standards of Housekeeping, Cleanliness, and personal hygiene within the department.
  • To notify the Line Lead, Packing Specialist or Shift Manager as a matter of urgency, if there has been any serious failure of safety or GMP which could affect staff or product quality or operational efficiency.
  • To identify any issues and attempt to resolve these and escalating if it cannot be resolved.
  • To support Operational Excellence incentives to drive and improve efficiency.
  • Any other reasonable request made by a member of staff.
  • Demonstrate all DECHRA values and encourage others to do the same.

You

A self-motivated enthusiastic individual who can work well within a team environment performing packing activities including the operation and cleaning of equipment, whilst being able to complete associated documentation accurately and in a timely manner, in line with strict procedures.
  • Ideally experience in a similar GMP packing role
  • Ability to maintain the Packing Plan and ensure schedule of adherence to meet agreed targets
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety compliance
